Maybe not all of us are able to remember Toy Story… for those of you who forgot, it’s that Disney Cartoon, where the main characters were… well… toys. Personally, the first time I saw it, I immediately wished I could be one of those toys for a couple of seconds, and be able to see the world through their eyes… huge and strange. Maybe it’s not such a common wish, but Omnigsoft seems to have thought about me… A special thank to luca2005 for his cooperation.

Maybe it’s not such a common wish, but Omnigsoft seems to have thought about me, and developed a new and extraordinary game: Chopper Fight
Infact, Chopper Fight is an unusual flight simulator, where we fly electric toys, rather than normal planes, spaceships or helicopters!
The game:
The game’s aim is simple: fly electric toys (they actually really exist), and beat the enemy squad!
First things first though. The main feature of the game is surely that once it is installed, two icons are created. This is because the game comes in two versions, a normal one, and one for PPCs with the 2700 Intel accelerator, the X50v. The x50v is the PPC we used to try the game.
Here is the initial window:
It is recommended to do the KEY CALIBRATION before we start where we can tell the game the commands we want to use
We can change the setting by clicking on “game settings” (there are a lot of different options here).
The settings range goes from the sounds, to the video driver, to the difficulty and game mode. As a matter of fact there are two main types of game. With the Arcade mode the toy will move forward automatically, allowing us to focus simply on the direction. With the “simulation” mode, we’ll have to control both the vertical and horizontal axis, just like real choppers. This mode is rather hard to master.
Let’s now click on ENTER GAME, to start a new match. Initially we need to select the room in which we want to play. There are a number of different rooms, from the bedrooms to the garden.
Following that, we will be asked to create the team. There are four different types of helicopters to chose from. Two of them will be on our team, and the other two on the enemy’s. We can control both our choppers thanks to a key that allows us to switch. Of course the aim of the game is to shut down the enemy choppers:
Clicking “Go” will trigger a short window, which will sum up the teams and the game mode.
Soon after that the game starts, and the visual zooms into our helicopter until we get right inside it
There are to viewing modes, internal and external. With the internal viewing mode we have access to precise aim
We can immediately notice how accurate the graphics are. Each object is well taken care of, and we can land practically anywhere.
Thanks to the accelerator, the game is also very smooth, and free to move in any direction. The sound effects are also very good, just like in a real battle.
Lots of objects, such as balloons, butterfly etc. also float in the room, and have bonus, points and health tokens attached to them.
The rooms, as previously mentioned, are also very detailed. Let’s take a look at the kids bedroom:
Or the cellar:
Or a number of different rooms in the house:
Conclusion:
Flying a real modelled electric toy is not an easy hobby to undertake, it takes money and space. For those who want to experience it and think they can cope with a simulation, this is surely the game for them. I can guarantee that the game is an excellent idea, and it is addictive. The possibility to fight within the house walls is great, and the game really does remind me of Toy Story. As for the important features, the game is smooth and very playable. The graphics are excellent and the support for the acceleration is wonderful, as is the ability to control to choppers at the same time.
